Harry Potter's Author

Born on July 31st, 1965 in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England. Joanne Kathleen Rowling started to write at the age of six. Whilst working as a bilingual secretary for Amnesty International in London, Rowling used her free time to write stories. At the age of 26, she decided to moved to Portugal to teach English.

Rowling got married and had a child but the marriage didn't last. During their separation, Rowling experienced anxiety disorders and saw herself as "the biggest failure". She had started her journey as a single mother who depended on state benefits for their food. Following the death of her mother, she finally decided to moved back to her homeland with her daughter.

It was during this time when she did most of her writing. With her baby in tow, Rowling made a living working in the coffee shops around the area.

Rowling finished her manuscript and able to sent it into 12 different publishers. However, none of them accepted it except the 13th. After a few months the character of Harry Potter became a phenomenon making Rowling the wealthiest author in the world.

Despite her worldwide success, J.K. Rowling remains with her feet firmly on the ground. She never fails to give back and has been a regular contributor to several charities.
